Welcome to Friends for Life Animal Rescue's Home on the Web!

Use the links to your left to explore our site and learn more about Friends for Life and how we do what we do. On these pages you may check our calendar for upcoming events, find links to other local rescue groups, and find some excellent information about animals from several national websites. Most importantly, you can meet some of the adoptable dogs and cats in our community who are seeking permanent, loving homes.

Friends for Life is a 100 percent volunteer run organization and we are always looking for people to join us in our mission to help animals. Volunteer opportunities are many and varied. Whether you have an hour or several hours a month to donate in the service of animals, you will find a place in our organization and work with some wonderful, animal-loving people.

Thank you for visiting our site and please come back often.

EMERGENCY!
(see below for Carly's story)

Carly came into the Humboldt County Animal Shelter as an injured stray.  It was later discovered that her foot had been run over by a car. Carly’s foot has been bandaged, however she is currently suffering from an infection and needs surgery immediately.

A Shelter volunteer has this to say about Carly: “ I worked with this girl on Wednesday. She let me carry her to a quiet room and totally relaxed and snuggled and then wanted to know what was going on with the people and sounds around her.  The vet said she is in pain, but you sure wouldn’t know that from being around her. How incredible she is in giving love and joy despite her pain! She is so trusting – no way do we want to let her down!!”

FFL is accepting donations to the Shelter Emergency Medical Fund to help this wonderful dog on her way to her FOREVER HOME. Are you able to help Carly?

CANYON NEEDS HIS LEGS FIXED….

CANYON, a handsome, gentle, cuddly Pit Bull Terrier mix who is a year old, arrived at the Humboldt County Shelter with a gimpy leg. Exams showed that he had sustained a hip fracture some time ago and needs repair to make the joint strong again. Because this occurred so long ago, he has done damage to the other leg as he tried to compensate, so now also needs a ligament repair. Both surgeries require an orthopedic specialist.

CANYON’S new adopted family adores him, but is only able to cover half of the cost of his surgery. Are you able to help this friendly boy be restored to health through a contribution?

Thank you for considering helping these two lovely, deserving animals, who have been injured by humans but not given proper care until now. Now they need our help and we, their friends, are grateful for those who help us to pay for the surgeries that will keep them alive and well and able enjoy the life they deserve.
