Private Adoption Dog - Sandy

Sandy is a 9 & 3/4 year old, neutered male chocolate lab and husky cross. He was born in Oct of 2001. He is housetrained and weighs 74 lbs. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and gets along well with kids, cats and other dogs.

Here's what his current guardian had to say about him:

Sandy is calm and friendly. He really enjoys companionship, and although he has spent a lot of time alone, he is the type of dog that when you invest time and energy in his well-being, he responds positively back immediately. He still loves to run & play with other dogs, but has slowed down in recent years. He loves the beach & Headwaters and does well with half-days at Doggy Day Care. He does enjoy riding in cars and LOVES going on outings and walks. He loves and needs daily walks. He's had basic puppy obedience training, more advanced training from Holly with Best Friends dog training, and even a brief stint in agility training. The vet at Arcata Animal Hospital was impressed with his good health, and declared that he had the body of a young dog. He loves to eat his two meals a day of Canidae regular. His main behavioral fault is poor recall at times when he wants to go on an "excursion" around the neighborhood, so he needs a fenced yard. With his woolly undercoat, he does shed 2X/yr. He's a beautiful, intelligent dog with a nice calm temperament that would fit in well in many types of households.
